6/19/17 - 6/20/17 Day 9 and 10
Highlights from our two days at Disneyland (the most magical place on earth) and California Adventure Park!
We had a nice, reasonably priced hotel with a pool (thanks to Karrie's recommendation). The pool is key in the heat - upper 80's. Between the pool and the adventure parks the kids are loving it!
Cali schools are out so the theme parks are busy.
And the lines are long.
At one point the Matterhorn had a two and a half hour wait (!), but wait times could be cut down significantly with the fast pass feature (only available on some of the rides). We didn't wait more than 30-40 minutes for any of the rides. The creators of these parks are creative geniuses They are also masters at handling high volumes of people. For example, they have elaborate sets that match the theme of the ride that go on and on - constantly giving you something to look at while waiting in line. The kids seemed really happy and it was fun to experience this with them!
Cars Land was a big hit with Henry.
We thought the kids migh pool their money and buy us this souvenir...
but no such luck!
Lilly got herself some Minnie Mouse ears, which have been upgraded quite a bit since I was a kid.
I felt lucky to experience this with Lilly...
At about 9:30 on Tuesday we said goodbye to Disneyland, after braving the Indiana Jones ride. It was shoulder to shoulder people as we made our way out of the park. We talked about the highlights of the two days on our walk back to the hotel, which included space mountain for Lilly, and Autopia for Henry.
I think Lilly liked it too.
I liked space mountain and the California Adventure Park because of the amazingly creative sets and rides and also less crowds. Chad's favorite was space mountain. Overall our Disney trip was a success!
We have plans to camp in Santa Barbara Wednesday night and then Big Sur on Thursday. On Friday, we will take I-5 and put in a big driving day to Redding, CA, where we will stay in a hotel. We would love to camp and explore there, but the forecast is for 107! We then plan to get to the Oregon coast by Saturday and make our way home from there. This marks the halfway point of our trip!
The happiest place on earth! Glad you guys had a good time and didn't have to spend too much time in lines. Thanks for posting your adventures on your blog. It looks like a wonderful trip!
